Thinking Art – how about an aesthetics reading group?

Thinking Art – by Antoon van den Braembussche

One of the things that we haven’t done yet in MAT is to try and integrate some elements of aesthetics into the scientific research methodologies we’ve been starting to adopt.

This is an introduction to the philosophy of aesthetics and art from the ground up – providing reference points and further reading for major ideas and theories of art and culture since Plato’s Republic.

It’s being used as a core text by art schools in Holland – he’s been called a successor to Gombrich, and Braembussche’s prose reads just as well.

Would other people be interested in an aesthetics-themed reading group that follows this book?
